The Canadian Economy Added 55,000 Jobs in December 2021, According to Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey



Statistics Canada reports that the Canadian economy added 55,000 jobs in December 2021 before the rise in COVID-19 cases forced business to close or curtail operations.


According to its Labour Force Survey, the unemployment rate fell slightly to 5.9% compared with 6.0% in November 2021, which is the lowest  since February 2020 before the pandemic.


New Brunswick’s jobless rate in December 2021 was 7.9%, down from 8.5% the previous month.
