New Brunswick’s Temporary Rent Cap is Now in Effect

New Brunswick’s temporary rent cap is now in effect until the end of the year.

Landlords are not allowed to increase rents above 3.8% or change the terms and conditions of a lease from January 1st to December 31st, unless agreed to by the tenant and landlord.

This would include buildings that have changed ownership. Additionally, leases that were previously signed by a tenant and their former landlord will continue to be legally binding under the new ownership.
