New Brunswick’s top doctor has issued a reminder about the importance of safe sex practices as the number of gonorrhea cases in the province rises.
The current outbreak was first announced in April 2019 and 74 cases were reported during the first half of 2021 alone. That’s more than the typical average of 54 cases for an entire year.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jennifer Russell is encouraging anyone having unprotected sex to get tested to help stop the transmission of infection.
