New Brunswick Says the Local Governance Reform Act Will Lead to the Most Significant Changes to the System in 60 years
The New Brunswick government says legislation introduced on Wednesday, December 1st will lead to the most significant changes to the local governance system in 60 years.
The local governance reform act will allow the current 340 local government entities in the province to be cut to 90, including 78 municipalities and 12 rural districts.
The restructuring would be undertaken next year and take effect on January 1, 2023.
Elections are to be held in November 2022 where needed for new councils, councilors and advisory committees.
