
New Brunswick Announces $1,000,000 in Funding to Coincide with Sexual Assault Awareness Month
New Brunswick has announced $1,000,000 in new funding to coincide with proclaiming May as ‘Sexual Assault Awareness Month’ in the province.
$200,000 will go to five agencies that provide counselling and other services to victims of sexual violence. They include:
- Sexual Violence New Brunswick in Fredericton
- The Southeast Sexual Assault Centre in Moncton
- Services à la famille on the Acadian Peninsula
- L’Éclipse in Edmundston
- Family Plus in Saint John
According to Statistics Canada, there were 610 sexual assault cases reported to police in New Brunswick in 2020.
