Loosening of Restrictions Delayed in New Brunswick as 70.3% of People Have Received Their First COVID-19 Vaccination Dose
New Brunswick has fallen short of it’s target to have 75% of the eligible population vaccinated with one dose by midnight last night (June 7, 2021).
That means restrictions will not be eased just yet and the province will not be reopening to other parts of the Atlantic provinces and regions of Quebec today as hoped. Premier Blaine Higgs now estimates it could be another 4 or 5 days before that happens.
Dr. Jennifer Russell also announced the second dose roll out plan. Anyone who received their first dose before April 1, 2021 can now book an appointment for a second one. Then on June 16, 2021 anyone who received their first shot during the month of April will be ale to book their second.
Currently 70.3% of eligible New Brunswickers has been given one shot, higher than the other Atlantic provinces.
