Jean-Guy Levesque Running for Mayor of the Village of Atholville in the Upcoming Municipal Elections.
April 8, 2021 – Atholville – Jean-Guy Levesque, the current Deputy Mayor of the Village of Atholville, will be running for Mayor in the upcoming municipal elections on May 10, 2021.
His decision to run for office comes from a strong desire to continue TO SERVE his community and fellow citizens. He has always been passionate about his community involvement and is keenly interested in the challenges of the municipal sector. He is very determined to serve his community through his involvement, experience and leadership.
“My priorities are community development, economic development, road and infrastructure improvement, environmental protection/improvement, increasing access to programs and/or government grants (provincial, federal), and forming partnerships between cities, villages and other organizations,” said Levesque.
Jean-Guy Levesque has held various key positions in the region. Professionally speaking, he was a physical education teacher, school principal, Education Director, and finished his career as Superintendent of the School District, a position that he occupied for 14 years. Throughout his career in education, he also held various leading positions such as President of the Canadian Association of School Superintendents and President of the N.B. Association of School Superintendents and Education Directors.
As for his community involvement, he chaired the Economic and Community Development Plan Committee for the Village of Atholville, served as Chairman of the Val D’Amours Local Service District, co-chaired the Summit Festival, and sat on various local, regional and provincial committees.
Jean-Guy Levesque has been serving as city Councillor and deputy mayor of the Village of Atholville since September 2015.
