COVID-19 Vaccination Bookings Are Now Open for Children Under the Age of 12 in New Brunswick

COVID-19 vaccination bookings are now open for children under the age of 12 in New Brunswick.

Health Minister Dorothy Sheppard made the announcement on Tuesday, November 23rd after it was confirmed that pediatric doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine had arrived in the province. Sheppard says the first child vaccinations will be administered through regional health authority clinics beginning this Friday, November 26th.

The COVID-19 vaccinations for children will also be expanded to pharmacies in the near future, but Sheppard says there are no plans at the moment to offer through school based clinics. There are also no current plans to make vaccinations mandatory in schools, nor are there plans to make vaccinations for children under 12 mandatory for participating in sports or extra curricular activities.

There are roughly 54,500 children in New Brunswick who are eligible for the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine.
